A Boston man(Hugh Jackman) kidnaps the person who he suspects is behind the disappearance of his young daughter and her best friend. Initially, a young and short-tempered detective(Jake Gyllenhaal) sets his heart on being transferred to big city. He doesn't take the former case at heart. That's why the Boston man decides to act alone and torture the suspects by all means so that he can find the victims.
