Lee DeWyze has been named the winner of the ninth season of American Idol.

The 24-year-old from Illinois scooped the recording contract prize in tonight's live finale, after millions of Americans cast their votes in what was judge Simon Cowell's last ever show.

24歲的Lee DeWyze也成為了Simon離開前的最后一屆美國偶像冠軍。

DeWyze will now release Beautiful Day as his first single.

The show made the most of Simon Cowell's last appearance as a judge.A lighthearted film package recounting highlights from the Cowell years was shown.
