Summit = sum-（最高點(diǎn)，總，m雙寫）+ -it，引申詞義“頂點(diǎn)”，詞根sum來源于拉丁語super (上 , 超過)的最高級 supmus 派生的 summus (最高的)。在一柱數(shù)字里面，古羅馬人喜歡從底下向上計(jì)數(shù)，然后把總數(shù)放在頂部，所以summus表示“最高的”意義。

Summit作名詞時(shí)，還表示“峰會”，如summit conference高峰會議，首腦會議、East Asia Summit 東亞峰會、China New Economy Summit中國新經(jīng)濟(jì)峰會。
