Concerns over the European debt problems and the U.S. economic strain have continued to haunt the market. Major indexes in the Wall Street and European markets have again suffered losses. The Dow Jones Industrial Average plunged more than 170 points on Friday, reminding investors of the big turmoil in the market last week. Traders chose to leave the market before the weekend, in case that the debt situation in Europe turned sour. Technology sector was also hit hard, dragged by Hewlett-Packard, whose shares plunged more than 20% after several Wall Street analysts downgraded its stock. The tech-heavy Nasdaq was down more than 1.6% after its first four-day losing streak since June. Meanwhile, Europe's benchmark Euro Stoxx 600 Share Index closed down 1.41% on Friday. That added to the losses from Thursday's brutal sell-off. Asian markets also took steep falls, with Tokyo tumbling 2.51%, Sydney shedding 3.51% and Seoul plunging 6.22%. Gold prices also surged to a new record in major markets, amid fears that the U.S. and Europe were facing a new downturn.
