U.S. President Barack Obama invites Prime Minister David Cameron to enjoy life in America to watch a basketball game at the University of Dayton Arena in Dayton, Ohio, Tuesday.
From Washington DC, Obama and Cameron flew with Air Force One (AFO). This event is quite special because for the first time Obama invited a state guest on his presidency plane AFO. According to the White House staff members, the two leaders were to spend the whole way in the office of Obama on Air Force One.
For Cameron, the match between the teams Mississippi Valley State University and Western Kentucky University is the first experience of watching basketball. Obama seems to explain the rules of his favorite sport. Both are watching the game while enjoying a typical American snacks, hot dogs.
PM Cameron saw there are similarities between basketball and football, which is how the players keep the opponent or trying to score points before the break. However, he admitted a little confused by too frequent violations that result in free throws.
“That was fast … sometimes hard to follow exactly who committed the offense,” Cameron told Tru TV network, in an interview with Obama at halftime.Obama responded with a joke. He said he’d ask Cameron to teach him to play cricket, the sport typically English.
“I think, very good for the Prime Minister (Cameron) to not only watch a basketball game for the first time, but visiting the State of Ohio,” Obama said..“
“Sometimes, when we receive foreign guests, they only visited the coastal areas … they been to New York to Washington, to Los Angeles, but Ohio is the most important,” said Obama.?
Some have cast a cynical comment about Obama invited Cameron to Ohio. They suspect a visit to Ohio was not just to entertain guests of the state, but to get media coverage in Ohio, a key state in the U.S. presidential election. As we know, Obama is running for re-election this year on.
Cameron also used the interview opportunity to promote the London Olympics which will begin in late July. “We are very excited welcome. We will roll out the carpet for all citizens of the world. Everything is (done) on time, within budget, and all stadiums have been built, we’re ready,” said Cameron.
翱穫愓f(shuō)。
The two leaders is known as a sports fan. Obama is known to basketball fans and build a basketball court in the White House. As for Cameron, known as a big fan of English football club, Aston Villa.
Obama’s warm reception of these very different against previous British Prime Minister. Former Prime Minister Gordon Brown has never had such a warm welcome. At one point, Brown reportedly been lobbying Obama in a kitchen at the Hotel New York.
